International Drone Day is observed annually on the first Saturday of May, and this year it falls on May 3. The holiday aims to promote awareness about the many beneficial uses of drones in civilian life — from search and rescue missions and package deliveries to transporting essential medical supplies.

The event was founded in 2014 by British drone enthusiasts Sarah and David John O’Neal. Their vision was to change public perception and shine a spotlight on the positive potential of drones, countering the fear and skepticism that often surrounds the technology.
Since its inception, thousands of people around the world have joined in celebrating International Drone Day, showcasing how drones can serve communities and enhance daily life in innovative ways.
